The spirit of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games will be illuminated in music by Faculty of Music alumnus and award-winning Canadian composer, Stephan Moccio.
Moccio (BMus’94) composed the theme music “I Believe” for broadcasts of the events by Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium – CTV Inc. and Rogers Media
Inc.
Music alumnus Stephan Moccio composed the theme song, “I Believe” for the Canadian broadcasts of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games.
“I Believe” was recorded in several formats, including an English single performed by 15-year-old Canadian singing star Nikki Yanofsky; a French single, entitled “J’Imagine,” performed by popular Quebec recording artist Annie Villeneuve; a bilingual version, also recorded by Villeneuve; and a full-length instrumental by Moccio.
The theme music includes unique tracks reflecting different emotions that will be used for a wide variety of circumstances.
Moccio and Glass Tiger front-man Alan Frew collaborated on the song lyrics, from which French lyrics were adapted by Thierry Laflamme and Villeneuve.
Different versions of the instrumental single were recorded by Les Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal, Canadian Children’s Opera Company, Bach Children’s Chorus and Toronto Children’s Chorus.
“I Believe” and “J’Imagine” are available for download on CTVOlympics.ca and RDSolympiques.ca.
