The Ivey Centre for Health Innovation and Leadership is dedicated to identifying, assessing and being a catalyst for the commercialization and adoption of innovative technologies, systems and processes that will make real change for health-care providers, patients and the health-care system.
The Government of Canada, through Industry Canada, has provided $5-million of seed funding over five years for the centre as a part of its Science and Technology strategy that aims to improve Canada’s long-term competitiveness and quality of life.
The centre is committed to addressing what has been referred to as Canada’s “innovation deficit” in health care and the persistent lack of highly-trained and skilled managers in the health-care industry – in both the private-sector and publicly funded health-care institutions – able to commercialize innovation or effectively implement new systems and management processes.
