Greig Perantinos, owner of Cool Moose Creamery and full-time student at Richard Ivey School of Business, has been named the 2010 Student Entrepreneur Ontario Champion by charitable organization Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship (ACE).
Since 2008, Greig has owned and operated the Cool Moose Creamery in Tottenham, Ont. The shop serves ice cream and frozen yogurt from May through September. A second store opened last summer in nearby Alliston.
More than $7,000 has been raised through the business for local charities including the Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Simcoe, Alliston and District Humane Society, Tottenham Food Bank, and Tottenham Lions Club.
Perantinos will represent Ontario in the next round of competition on March 8, from which two regional champions will be selected. A national champion will be selected May 12.
ACE is a not-for-profit organization that provides post-secondary students with the opportunity to gain entrepreneurial and leadership skills outside of the classroom.
