With the tailing off of influenza cases in the London region, the heightened reporting of flu cases has ended and the university has removed the H1N1 flu information microsite from the main homepage.
The site will continue to be available at https://communications.uwo.ca/influenza-microsite/.
The Middlesex-London Health Unit recently wrapped up its regular influenza updating, citing “very low” activity in Middlesex-London and across the province. There have been no lab-confirmed cases in 2010.
“Pandemic H1N1 influenza activity has essentially subsided and seasonal influenza has not yet arrived.”
The first Middlesex-London resident with lab-confirmed H1N1 was reported on May 6, 2009. By the end of the summer, Middlesex-London was reporting mild influenza activity compared to higher intensity in other areas of the province.
Locally, a second wave began in early October, 2009, peaking in the last two weeks of October.There has been little activity since early in December.
In total, 105,287 pandemic H1N1 influenza vaccinations and 21,274 seasonal influenza vaccinations were provided locally.
