The University of Western Ontario Staff Association (UWOSA) Elections Committee have announced the results of its elections on Mar. 4.
Deb Novakowski has been re-elected Vice President, defeating challenger Dana Lowry (a Steward and Chair of UWOSA’s Steward’s Council) 164 to 127. Jackie Sparks was also re-elected to her position as Health and Safety Officer, defeating challenger Scott McIntosh (a Steward who has also served as Treasurer and Health & Safety Officer in the past) 176-113.
“The committee would like to express its gratitude to all of the candidates for their hard work and dedication during the campaign process and to the membership for taking part in the electoral process by voting in the election,” says Jennifer Brace, elections committee chair. “Strong participation in the election process is an indication of the strength of all four candidates.”
Other acclaimed executive members preparing to begin a two-year term starting May 1 are: David Empey, President; Stephanie Macleod, Chief Steward; Denise Farr, Member Services Officer; Rob Fournier, Treasurer; and Mike Parker, Secretary.
“We have a very strong group of terrific people ready to take on the challenges ahead,” says Empey. “I’m excited to lead this team as we approach the 2010 round of collective bargaining.”
