Pierre L. Morrissette, President, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Pelmorex Media Inc., will receive an honorary degree at The University of Western Ontario’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) Convocation on Friday, August 27.
Pelmorex Media Inc. is the parent company that owns and operates the broadcasting licence for The Weather Network and its French sister station, Météo Média, Canada’s English and French specialty weather channels.
Pierre L. Morrissette
Born and raised in Montreal, Morrissette completed a degree in Economics at Loyola College in 1968. He later earned an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business in 1972.
After serving as President of both Telemedia Ventures (1983) and Canadian Satellite Communications (1983-1989), Morrissette founded Pelmorex Media Inc. in 1989, and the company purchased The Weather Network and Météo Média in 1993.
Under his direction, the company has taken broadcasting weather into a national business enterprise that uses the resources of almost every technology available to deliver highly accurate and often specialized weather information.
In addition to his duties at Pelmorex, Morrissette is a member of the Advisory Board of MWI & Partners Inc (Merchant Bank), Chairman of the Advisory Board of Meteorological Services of Canada (MSC), Institute for Entrepreneurship (Ivey) and a member of the Advisory Board for Ivey.
