Surface Science Western Director Leo Lau is the recipient of the 2010 Ontario Green Chemistry and Engineering Award in the individual category.
Selected by the Canadian Green Chemistry and Engineering Network, Lau will be presented the award recognizing a person in Ontario who has made significant contributions to the field of green chemistry and engineering, including the technical, economic, human health and environmental benefits. The Ontario Ministry of the Environment sponsors this award.
Lau has published more than 200 scientific articles in materials research, with almost half on thin film research. He has extensive experience in technology development, transfer and commercialization, particularly in the field of surface engineering.
He will be recognized at the 3rd annual International IUPAC Conference on Green Chemistry held in Ottawa, Aug. 15-18.
