When you launch The University of Western Ontario’s web mail on Monday to check your e-mail, the interface might look a little different.
Information Technology Services (ITS) has released Convergence as a replacement for Western’s existing web mail client, Communications Express. Convergence is available at https://iwc.uwo.ca/.
Jeff Grieve, Associate Director, Technical Support for ITS, says Convergence is an upgrade to Communications Express. For those who like to access their Western e-mail account using the Internet, the new web client is a “a much nicer looking interface.”
The new interface is Oracle’s (Sun) Web 2.0-based communication client. The features and interactive functions enable this browser application to compete with e-mail clients such as Outlook and Thunderbird.
Convergence provides users with integrated access to mail, calendar and address book. It is also customizable to make it user-friendly.
Standard web mail access via https://mail.uwo.ca or https://ce.uwo.ca will launch Convergence, rather than Communications Express.
