Known for her detective work uncovering scandals on Parliament Hill, Stevie Cameron, one of Canada’s foremost investigative journalists, was given the “assignment of a lifetime” when she was asked to write a book on serial killer Robert Pickton and the missing women of Vancouver.
Cameron has been selected as this year’s speaker for the annual Clissold Lecture in Journalism, held Thursday, Nov. 25 in University College, Room 224 (Conron Hall) beginning at 5 p.m. Her talk, titled, “Covering the Pickton Case: Horror, Heartbreak and the Assignment of a Lifetime,” will discuss the challenges and highlights of her multi-year investigation into the Pickton case.
She is the author of On the Take, The Last Amigo, and The Pickton File, and most recently, “On the Farm: William Pickton and the Tragic Story of Vancouver’s Missing Women.” She had an extensive and distinguished career working at the Toronto Star, the Ottawa Citizen, the Globe and Mail, and CBC-TV.
The Clissold Lecture commemorates the life and work of Edward Clissold (1833-1915), who retired in 1910 as editor of the London Advertiser after 33 years on its staff.
The event is free to the public.
