Designed to support the cost of collaborative projects undertaken in partnership with small or medium enterprises, Western Applied Research and Commercialization (ARC) awards will help move innovative products based on existing or proposed collaborations to market.
These awards are made from funds provided by the Federal Development Agency for Southwestern Ontario, and administered by the Office of the Vice-President (Research & International Relations).
Projects are based on a technology, concept, process, or an artistic piece that has been disclosed to WORLDiscoveries by way of a Report of Invention (ROI), and are expected to be of short duration – a maximum of 12 months. Up to $50,000 in funding is available, which must be matched by the SME at a minimum of one-third of the total amount.
The competition is for one-time projects based on existing/proposed collaboration partnerships. Applicants can only receive one grant per project. WORLDiscoveries personnel are available for consultation on issues related to intellectual property and commercialization.
Reports of Invention are due to the WORLDiscoveries business development office by December 8, 2010, followed by a full application due to Research Development & Services by December 16.
