Western football head coach Greg Marshall will be shooting for his eighth Yates Cup title this Saturday as the Mustangs take on the McMaster Marauders at TD Waterhouse Stadium beginning at 1 p.m.
Western heads into this game riding a 13-game home winning streak dating back to 2009 and have taken the last three meetings against McMaster. In the only meeting between the two teams this year, Western took care of the Marauders on their home turf 48-21, the only loss for McMaster this season.
Rookie rookie running back sensation Tyler Varga and his CIS-leading 15 regular season touchdowns looks to leads the Mustangs offense with fellow running back Nathan Riva. The two have combined for more than 62 per cent of Western’s rushing yards.
With a victory, the Mustangs would head Moncton, NB for the Uteck Bowl against the winner of the Atlantic University Sport on Nov. 18. A Uteck Bowl victory would send the Mustangs across country to Vancouver to battle for the Vanier Cup on Nov. 25.
