Jane Bowles was recently presented with a Carolinian Canada Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of an outstanding contribution toward the protection of the natural diversity and natural habitats of Ontario’s Carolinian Life Zone.
The adjunct professor (Biology and Geography) has been working to preserve habitat and advance scientific knowledge for more than 30 years. Bowles is also director of the Sherwood Fox Arboretum and curator of the UWO Herbarium.
She has helped develop Conservation Master Plans for the City of London and other municipalities, prepared countless natural heritage inventories for the Walpole Island Ecosystem Recovery Strategy and the Long Point National Wildlife Refuge, and is a founding member of the Thames Talbot Land Trust.
