Western activated its weather siren for the first time on Wednesday, Sept. 11, when Environment Canada issued a tornado warning for the campus and surrounding area.

In her study (Study: Education drives health behavior changes after falling ill, Aug 29), Western Sociology professor Rachel Margolis states, “health problems arise throughout the life course and how people respond to new medical conditions can shape their future health.”

I would like to congratulate professor David Heap on his excellent article about the important lessons of the Chilean coup, 40 years later (Four decades later, coup in Chile offers lessons, Sept. 5).
Severe weather warning – UPDATED 5:49 p.m.
Western is running on a normal schedule, meaning all activities – including classes – remain as scheduled following a severe thunderstorm that moved through the area in the last hour. The violent front – featuring lightning and hail – resulted in Western using its on-campus weather alert siren for the first time. No major damage reported.
Statement about Orientation Week concert
The University Students’ Council (USC) and Western regret the actions and commentary of the artist Classified made Saturday night on stage at the Orientation Week concert. Both officials felt the performance did not reflect the mission, values and messages of the Orientation Program.
Mustangs win big over McMaster, 58-15
HAMILTON, Ont. – Second-year quarterback Will Finch threw for 449 yards and five touchdowns while receiver George Johnson had nine receptions for 224 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Western Mustangs to a 58-15 victory over the McMaster Marauders on Saturday afternoon at Ron Joyce Stadium.
Expect delays on Western Road this afternoon
Be advised Western Road will experience a brief delay in traffic flow between 3-3:30 p.m. today due to the opening of Western’s new Richard Ivey Building.
Heat warning issued for next two days
The Middlesex-London Health Unit has issued a heat alert for Tuesday and Wednesday as temperatures are expected in the 30s with a humidex value over 40 degrees.
Division celebrates a millennia of employee service
Marlon Brando and Al Pacino topped the box office with The Godfather. Roberta Flack owned the Billboard charts with her hit The First Time I Saw Your Face. Everyone tuned in for All in the Family on Saturday night. And Wendy Dupuis started at Western.
