Western launched its 2013 campuswide fundraising campaign benefiting the United Way of London & Middlesex by announcing an ambitious goal of $780,000.
“Western is once again pushing the envelope within our campus community to consider doing more and giving more to this critical annual campaign,” said Janice Deakin, provost and vice-president (academic). “Collectively, the investment we all make in our community’s changing needs helps support the United Way’s vision of a community where everyone matters and Western is determined to make a difference.”
Co-Chairs of Western’s 2013 United Way Campaign – Betty Anne Younker, Don Wright Faculty of Music dean, and Peggy Wakabayashi, director of residences – challenged the Western community to be creative in their fundraising activities for this year’s campaign.
This year’s campaign activities for Western community members includes prize draws for donors, an online auction and teams from Western will be taking part in the United Way Stair Climb on Nov. 7.
Western faculty, staff and students have a long-standing relationship with the United Way having contributed more than $8 million dollars. Last year, Western’s campaign generated the largest workplace contribution to United Way of London Middlesex at just over $746,000 to support real change in our community.
The campaign will conclude on Jan. 22.
