Soccer players Amanda Boyle and Christian Douglas have been named the Western Mustangs Athletes of the Week for the period ending Sept. 28.
Boyle, a second-year Kinesiology student, had another strong outing on Saturday, scoring four goals in Western’ 8-1 win over the Warriors. The Vaughan, Ont., native has been a nightmare for opposing keepers this season, and is tied for the CIS scoring lead with 17 goals in 2014. This is Boyle’s second Athlete of the Week nod this season, as she was also honoured in early September with the Western, OUA, and CIS Female Athlete of the Week awards after scoring six goals in three games.
Douglas, a third-year Kinesiology student from Oakville, Ont., scored two goals in the Mustangs 5-1 win over Waterloo on Saturday afternoon. Douglas’ two-goal game, his third multi-goal game of the season and second against Waterloo, put him into a tie for third place among all OUA players with eight goals this season.
