Hockey player Greg Dodds and soccer player Tori Edgar have been named the Western Mustangs Athletes of the Week for the period ending on Nov. 9.
Dodds, a second-year Social Sciences student from Wingham, Ont., was brilliant against the McGill Redmen on Saturday night, bringing one of the country’s top offences to a screeching halt in a 38-save shutout performance to lead the Mustangs to a 3-0 win. The shutout was Dodds’ second of the season and helped keep him on top of the OUA with a 1.76 goals against average and a .949 save percentage.
Edgar, a third-year Health Sciences student from Oakville, Ont., closed out the CIS Championship in style, posting two shutouts in Western’s final two games to help the team secure fifth place at the national championship. She made six saves between the two matches, helping the Mustangs to 2-0 victories over both Memorial and Montreal. Edgar, who was named an OUA West First Team All-Star in October, finished the season with a total of 16 shutouts in 22 games.
