With a goal of promoting exercise and recreation as a pathway to healthy living for local Indigenous youth, Western hosted its 10th annual Track and Field Day at Thompson Recreation Centre on Friday. Facilitated by the university’s Indigenous Services, the day-long event brought together almost 200 indigenous youth, ages 12-14. Current Mustang athletes led the students through a variety of exercises and demonstrations including long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, running and relays.
