Seriously, get off the roof. As university and city officials continued to look for way to combat the annual illegal street party on Broughdale Avenue, people continued to flood the area and to strain emergency services resources, as well as university and community patience. This year, the University Students’ Council (USC) offered Purple Fest, a day-long hip-hop concert, as a way to redirect at least the Western student members of the masses. Nevertheless, police estimated a crowd of more than 20,000 – students and non-students alike – flooded the street. More than 3,000 warning tickets were issued and 134 charges were laid.
