Western News has a number of writing opportunities for volunteers.
The university’s newspaper of record for more than 35 years has several openings for volunteers interested in working in a newspaper environment.
The type of work can be matched to an individual’s level of writing experience and interests. Attention to accuracy, spelling, grammar and deadlines are important assets for anyone wishing to work at Western News.
Opportunities include producing the weekly Conference Calendar feature, the ‘Looking Back’ feature, research highlights, short commentaries or special-interest columns and other features.
Volunteers may work from the Western News office in Westminster Hall or from their own computer depending upon the assignment.
Write to Western News Editor David Dauphinee at newseditor@uwo.ca and outline your background, writing interests and availability. We have openings requiring as little as an hour a week.
