The glamorous world of opera; where egos are abundant and profits are plunging. What is an opera Impresario to do?
Retire far away from the lights of the stage, if he has any sense. But not if an ambitious assistant, his wealthy patron and two dueling divas have any say.
London’s Fringe Festival is getting a little Western flare with the production of Mozart’s The Impresario at the Wolf Performance Hall, with shows Wednesday (8:30 p.m.), Friday (7 p.m.) and Saturday (2 p.m.). Tickets are $10.
Led by Western alumna Sonja Gustafson’s (MMus ’08) production company Diva Loung Production, the comedic singspiel, featuring an all Western grad cast, also includes Taylor Matheson (MMus ’07), Ian Robertson (MMus ’07), Morgan Jones (PhD ’09) and Paul Grambo (MMus ’07).
The company’s last show, The Medium, was a huge hit at the 2007 Fringe Festival, winning several awards including the Impresario award, Best Performance (Gustafson), Most Daring Show and a Brickenden Award.
