The University Students’ Council (USC) and Western regret the actions of and commentary made by the artist Classified Saturday night on stage at the Orientation Week concert. Both groups felt the performance did not reflect the mission, values and messages of the Orientation Program.
Western and the USC apologize to those in attendance who were offended. The USC and Western do not support what was presented. Orientation Week has prominently featured programming that encourages respect and consent as presented directly to more than 5,000 students at the ‘One Love Rally’ on Wednesday. The Western orientation program prides itself on setting a safe campus culture of acceptance, and as such, Western and the USC were disappointed to see the week come to an end on this note.
