Mummenschanz, the Swiss mime-mask theatre company, was scheduled to perform at Western during the week of Feb. 14, 1977.
The company took an original approach to mime entertainment, using masks to create imagination and humour. The show was sponsored by the Council for University Theatres and Arts and tickets were $3.50 for students.
· A 1973 Pontiac Astre GT was selling for $1,500. Features included a cassette player as well as radial tires.
· Renovations to Talbot Theatre were approved by the Senate in the amount of $125,000. This money would be used to repair torn curtains and replace stage lighting and the sound system. Repairs of this kind had not been made since 1966 and were considered long overdue.
· As part of Klondike Days winter carnival, Western students participated in a snow sculpture contest which received a total of twelve entries. The first place prize went to Beattie House in Medway Hall for their depiction of a prospector with a pan of gold.
· In light of upcoming USC presidential campaigns, the Elections Procedure Committee released a report containing recommendations for changes in the campaigning procedure. These included official limits on campaign expenditures, as well as a reduction in the excess of student elections to only two sets. Voting was to take place on March 15 and 16, 1977.
