Seasonal flu vaccines are now available for University of Western Ontario students, faculty and staff.
Faculty and Staff
Immunization clinics for employees will be held Thursday, Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Staff/Faculty Family Practice Clinic at Health Services Resource Centre in the University Community Centre.
The seasonal flu vaccination clinics are for employees only; family members registered with the Western Family Practice Clinic may make an appointment with the clinic for immunization, visit a community clinic, or contact their family physician.
Student employees, including master’s and PhD students, are asked to arrange an immunization appointment through Student Health Services at 519-661-3030.
Students
Students wanting to get the seasonal flu vaccine should call Student Health Services at 519-661-3030 to request an appointment time. Community clinics are also available through the Middlesex-London Health Unit. Clinic dates are posted at www.healthunit.com.
H1N1 vaccination clinics
The H1N1 vaccine clinics are still being held by Middlesex London Health Unit and their times and locations are on their website at www.healthunit.com.
At Western, the next H1N1 clinic is on Saturday, Nov. 28 at Althouse Faculty of Education Building from 10 a.m. to 3 pm.
Here are some things to consider when attending a vaccination clinic:
Bring your health card or driver’s license; Wear a short-sleeved shirt; Don’t skip a meal before attending; Consider attending in the second half of the clinic as clinics tend to be very busy at the beginning; Come dressed for the weather in case the line extends outside; Bring something for kids to play with and eat in case there is a lineup.
Please don’t attend the clinic if you are ill with fever or respiratory symptoms.
