Canadian filmmaker Alanis Obomsawin will be at Western Wednesday evening (Feb. 24) for a screening of her renowned film Kanehsatake: 270 Years of Resistance.
This award winning documentary, starting at 6:30 p.m. in Conron Hall, is a powerful portrayal of the Oka Crisis of the 1990s and the experiences of Mohawk activists from behind the barricades.

For almost four decades, Obomsawin has directed numerous documentaries for the National Film Board of Canada and today has made over 30 documentaries on issues affecting Aboriginal people in Canada.
Following the screening, there will be a question and answer period with Obomsawin.
