The gods really are crazy – or maybe they just have spring fever. Imagine Desperate Housewives meets Ovid’s Metamorphosis – a rollicking bedroom comedy where the Roman gods confront infidelity, sibling rivalry, homosexuality and yoga.
That’s the inspiration behind the world premier of Jupiter en Famille, written by Western French professor Jean Leclerc and directed and scored by local talent.
Jupiter is forever chasing pretty girls while Juno just wants to take a vacation. Will Orpheus sign a recording deal with Venus? Will Minerva’s vow of chastity stand up to the charms of an Indian god?
Scheduled for the Arts Project (203 Dundas St.) March 30, 31 and April 1 at 7:30 p.m., and April 2 at 10:30 a.m., the performance is, of course, in French because even the gods know that French is the language of love.
Tickets are $10 for students and youth ($15 for adults) and they can be purchased in the French Department office, University College 138b, or can be reserved by emailing theatrelondonne@gmail.com.
