Gordon Southam has been appointed as the new director for the Centre for Environment & Sustainability (CES).
Southam, associate professor and Canada Research Chair of the Department of Earth Science and cross-appointed in Biology, assumed the role Aug. 1, for a three-year term.
In a vision statement for the Centre, Southam says the “CES must strive to maximize resource utilization and strengthen the impact of its research and teaching in order to catalyze its expansion and eventually lead to its becoming the School of Environment and Sustainability.
“Over the next five years, I would like to see CES develop into a cohort of faculty, staff and students who are recognized across campus for their involvement with CES and, beyond campus for their research activities and for their contributions to industry and society.”
