The University of Western Ontario community is mourning the recent death of Dr. Mahdi Al Darwish. Al Darwish, a research fellow in the Clinical Investigator Program at Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, fell ill and passed away while visiting his family for the holidays in Saudi Arabia.
Trainee colleagues as well as faculty and supervisors remembered Al Darwish as a popular and respected member of the team. He completed his psychiatry training at Western, passing his specialty examinations and completing his residency in June 2010. He was known for his intelligence, ability as a clinician and researcher, and his collegiality and volunteerism.
He is survived by his wife and two young children.
