Staff/faculty team leaders are being sought currently for Alternative Spring Break (ASB) 2012.
Now in its 10th year, The University of Western Ontario’s ASB program provides students the opportunity to learn about community needs, engage in active volunteer service and reflect on how the experience connects to their future career goals.
The program, facilitated by the Student Success Centre and Western Residence Life, takes place over Reading Week (Feb. 20-24, 2012) and offers seven different locales: London, Winnipeg, Louisiana, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama.
Leading a group of up to 40 student participants during this unique experience complements any staff or faculty member’s current work or teaching, while allowing for greater engagement with students.
Information about the program and team leader applications can be found at asb.uwo.ca.
Please read the site thoroughly to find out more about locations, the pre-departure conference weekend and details of the commitment. Also, organizers have scheduled an information session for staff/faculty at 4:30 Wednesday, Sept. 28 in the University Community Centre, Room 147A.
Deadline for team leader applications is Friday, Oct. 7. Contact asb@uwo.ca with any questions.
