The life of Carson Edwin Shipp will be celebrated on Monday, Feb. 27 in Toronto. During the time of the celebration, Western will lower the flag on University College in the Social Science student’s honour. While the Shipp family appreciates the support of the Western community, the celebration event is intended for family and invited guests only.
Shipp, 21, died Tuesday, Feb. 14 at University Hospital.
His Toronto Star obituary spotlighted a man “born an original, a true leader. He will be remembered for his big smile, warm heart, brave strength, enthusiasm for life, love of learning, and problem solving skills.”
The family thanked Dr. Gregory Bergey, Rebecca Fisher and their team at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore; the medical team at Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto; and Dr. Michael Wong of Mississauga for their commitment to Shipp’s care.
Shipp is survived by his parents, Gordon and Debbie Shipp of Mississauga; siblings Katelyn and Harrison; and grandparents Betty and the late E. A. White, and Harold and the late June Shipp.
