The Centre for Transitional Justice and Post-Conflict Reconstruction and the Department of Women’s Studies and Feminist Research will host a conference, Gender and Transitional Justice, on Wednesday, April 25.
The conference brings speakers and participants from around the world to discuss a number of gender-related issues pertaining to the kinds of extraordinary justice used in societies in the wake of serious violations of human rights. Topics to be discussed include international criminal law, apology, reparations, genocide, rape trials and Canada’s own Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
Debra Bergoffen, emerita professor at George Mason University and Bishop Hamilton Lecturer in Philosophy at American University, will deliver the keynote address.
The conference is sponsored by Research Western; the Elinor Ratcliffe Fund in Women’s Studies and Feminist Research; Faculty of Arts and Humanities; Faculty of Law; Faculty of Information and Media Studies; Faculty of Social Science; Social Science Student Donation Fund; Centre for Transitional Justice and Post-Conflict Reconstruction; and the Centre for the Study of Theory and Criticism, Department of Philosophy.
