Civil and Environmental Engineering professor Slobodan Simonovic, director of engineering studies with Western’s Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction, has been selected by the Environmental Water Resources Institute to receive the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) 2013 Ven Te Chow Award for his achievements in the field of hydrologic engineering.

Western researchers Paul Charpentier and Clare Robinson have been named among 83 scientific teams at universities across the country receiving Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Strategic Project Grants.
Sproule, Wise named Athletes of the Week
Swimmers Emma Sproule and Robert Wise have been named the Western Mustangs Goodlife Fitness Athletes of the Week for Feb. 11-17.

Known worldwide for his research around critical care medicine, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry professor Dr. Raymond Kao has been named the Group Captain G. Edward Hall Chair in Military Critical Care Research at Lawson Health Research Institute, the research arm of London Health Sciences Centre. The chair, a Canadian first, is named after Western’s former Dean of Medicine and longest-serving president.
