Work begins late this week on a new entrance into Huron University College off Western Road providing access into the Western affiliate and Springett Parking Lot.
The new entrance will be located slightly south of the current Huron entrance – near the pedestrian tunnel connecting both sides of Western Road. When complete, the entrance will feature a traffic signal, and will serve as the main traffic entrance/exit into the Springett Parking Lot.
Construction will continue through the summer and into fall with an anticipated completion date of November 2014.
Western officials are asking the community to remain patient during the construction. Follow Western’s Twitter account, @westernu, and the university’s website, uwo.ca, for the latest updates on traffic and construction.
When completed, Western officials do not expect the new entrance to impact – positively or negatively – current traffic on Western Road. The new entrance also will provide Western with access to property the university owns behind Huron, allowing for future growth.
The existing entrances into the Springett Parking Lot via Brescia Lane will be closed once the new entrance opens.
