Construction projects changing face, flow of campus (Western News, Sept. 4) stated that “early traffic reports are positive, as commuters were finding their way into the (Springett parking) lot fairly smoothly.”
I agree commuters are finding their way into the Springett lot – but I would not say smoothly.
Even though both traffic lights at Lambton Drive and Elgin Drive going north on Western Road are green, one cannot go anywhere because traffic is not moving smoothly between the two lights to turn into Springett. The lane between Lambton and Elgin is not long enough to accommodate turning traffic.
The advance green turning into Springett only allows three vehicles to turn.
This light stays green for a long time at Elgin Drive, however a steady stream of through traffic going south is not allowing vehicles to turn left into Springett. This causes even more traffic chaos at the light at Lambton Drive.
