Starting Friday, London Transit Commission (LTC) buses will provide commuters in and around the university campus with more options to get to their destination. As a result of those changes, Western has also altered the route of its free temporary shuttle service.
Announced earlier today, LTC has added ‘enhanced detour routes’ for the 6 Richmond, 6A Richmond and 13 Wellington. According to the LTC website, these detour routes include:
- Route 6 Richmond. North on Richmond Street, left on Windermere Road, left on Perth Drive, right on the Hospital Access Road (north of the parking garage), right on Western Road, right on Windermere Road, right on Richmond Street to regular route;
- 6A Richmond/2C Dundas. Northbound. North on Richmond Street, left on Windermere Road, left on Perth Drive, right on Middlesex Drive to Natural Science to regular route;
- 6A Richmond/2C Dundas. Southbound. Regular route;
- 13 Wellington. Northbound– North on Richmond Street, left on Windermere Drive, left on Perth Drive, right on the Hospital Access Road (north of the parking garage), right on Western Road, right on Windermere Drive, left on Richmond Street to regular route;
- 13 Wellington. Southbound. South on Richmond Street, right on Windermere Road, left on Perth Drive, right on the Hospital Access Road (north of the parking garage), right on Western Road, right on Windermere Road, right on Richmond Street to regular route;
- Route 6 Richmond/9C Whitehills (after 7 p.m. only). 6 Richmond to 9C Whitehills. North on Richmond Street, left on Windermere Road, left on Perth Drive, right on Middlesex Drive to regular route; and
- Route 6 Richmond/9C Whitehills (after 7 p.m. only). 9C Whitehills to 6 Richmond- Regular Route.
Also starting tomorrow, the main pickup point for Western’s shuttle service will be in front of University Hospital with stops at the bottom of University College Hill and in front of the Biological & Geological Sciences Building (beside the Natural Sciences Centre). The full shuttle route is available here. The service operates from 7:30- a.m.-10:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 7:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday. There is no shuttle service on weekends.
Earlier this week, university officials estimated necessary repairs to and testing of University Drive Bridge will be concluded in three weeks, ending a reconfiguration of three LTC routes as a result of weight restrictions imposed on the bridge March 4.
