Super Bowl champion and current Detroit Lions tight end Luke Willson ‘jump started’ his NFL season Friday by taking part in the Jumpstart Games at Western’s TD Stadium.
The Canadian-born NFLer, who won a championship with the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLVIII, joined approximately 185 local kids (Grades 6-8) from Aberdeen, C.C. Carrothers, Ealing and Trafalgar public schools for the opportunity get active, learn new skills and have fun alongside their peers as they rotate through six different activity stations including flag football, target throwing and touchdown celebrations. Members of the Western Mustangs football team joined in the effort.
Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities is a national charity dedicated to removing financial and accessibility barriers to sport and recreation, so all kids have the chance to play. Since 2005, Jumpstart has helped 1.6 million kids and counting, including more than 16,000 in London, get in the game.
