Read. Watch. Listen. introduces you to the personal side of our faculty, staff and alumni. Participants are asked to answer three simple questions about their reading, viewing and listening habits – what one book or newspaper/magazine article is grabbing your attention; what one movie or television show has caught your eye; and what album/song, podcast or radio show are you lending an ear to.
Nathan McKibbon is a new head coach of Mustangs Women’s Basketball.
Today, he takes a turn on Read. Watch. Listen.

Read.
My favourite book has to be The Legends Club by John Feinstein. Any story involving Jim Valvano is going to be entertaining, but the combination of coaches in the ACC at that time is fascinating (Krzyzewski, Smith and Valvano). If you’re wondering if you should read this book, go watch Valvano’s ESPY speech on YouTube and I guarantee you will pick up the book.
Watch.
The one show I always make time to watch, even if I miss the live broadcast, is Shields and Brooks on PBS Newshour. I find the segment one of the more balanced, civil and intelligent discussions on American politics you can find anywhere. My father got me into the program so it’s also special because it is something we share.
Listen.
There are a couple of podcasts I always listen to – Al Franklen Podcast, Basketball Immersion – but my go-to is still anything late 90’s or early 00’s R&B. If you see me pulling into the Western parking lot pregame, I can promise you there will be some Jodeci, TLC, Fugees, Dru Hill or Jagged Edge blaring from my speakers.
