The Faculty of Education drama class at The University of Western Ontario opens Urinetown, The Musical on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
A F.E.W. Good Players present the Tony-nominated Broadway show filled with love, satire, moral dilemmas, and a suitable mix of ‘potty’ humour.
A terrible water shortage due to a twenty-year drought causes restroom activities to be performed in public toilets, which are controlled by Urine Good Company, a megacorporation that forces people to pay for the amenities. Those who refuse to pay are sent to Urinetown and harsh laws spark an uprising by the poor.
The production is based on the book and lyrics by Greg Kotis and music and lyrics by Mark Hollmann.
The show will be presented Feb. 25-28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Faculty of Education (Althouse) Building Main Auditorium, 1137 Western Road. A matinee will also be held on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for general admission and can be purchased at The Grand Theatre Box Office, 471 Richmond Street, London, Ont. or by calling 519-672-8800.
