Peter Donahue has been named the new director of King’s University College’s School of Social Work, effective July 1, Principal David Sylvester announced last week. Donahue will succeed Barbara Decker Pierce, who will step down after nine years in the position.
Donahue joins King’s from Renison University College at the University of Waterloo, where he holds an appointment as associate professor and serves as chair of the Department of Social Development Studies. Previously, he was an associate professor of social work in the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Calgary. He holds at PhD and Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto, and a BA (Gerontology) and BSc (Biology) from McMaster University.
Donahue has been involved in a variety of professional organizations focused on aging, ranging from the Ontario and Alberta Associations on Gerontology to the Canadian Association on Gerontology, and is currently a member of the Commission on Accreditation for the Canadian Association for Social Work Education.
