Jeff Gardiner, Western’s Central Information Security Officer, recently received the inaugural Canadian University Council of Chief Information Officers (CUCCIO) Community Award, presented at the Canadian Higher Education Information Technology Conference.
Through Gardiner’s leadership of the CUCCIO Security Special Interest (SIG) group, the team has become a close community where collaboration is encouraged and sharing is the norm. The CUCCIO SIG provides a place for confidential information sharing of security related issues for the higher education institutions across the country. Along with threat intelligence, it serves as a community for establishing best practices, advice on specific issues and collaborative buying.
In addition to the award, a donation of $1,000 will be made to a computer science scholarship fund at Western.
