The Western Mustangs quest for the seventh Vanier Cup title in school history has begun as the purple and white hit the field for 2013 training camp, with two-a-days leading up to their season opener on the road Sunday, Aug. 25 against the Toronto Varsity Blues.
All practices are open to the public, and the Mustangs will be scrimmaging Sunday, Aug. 18 with the Guelph Gryphons from 2-5:30 p.m.
Western’s home opener is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 2 under the lights (7 p.m. start) against the Carleton Ravens, back in the league after being scrapped in the 1999 season due to a combination of financial and on-field performance.
The Homecoming game will be Saturday, Sept. 28 as the Mustangs will take on rival Queen’s.
