The OWL Flight Plan Project Team at The University of Western Ontario is looking for your feedback as the OWL comes in for a final landing.
Two learning management systems (LMS) have been selected for evaluation by the university community: Blackboard Learn, a commercial product, and Sakai CLE, an open-source product. One of these products will be selected to replace WebCT.
In 2005, WebCT, Western’s current LMS, was acquired by Blackboard Inc. The company has since announced that support for the product will be discontinued by January 2013. Given Western has been using WebCT since 1998, this was an ideal opportunity to review campus needs and plan for the future.
Over the past year, the Project Team has been gathering feedback from the campus community on what they would like to see in a new product. That information helped guide the selection of these two products.
All faculty and staff are encouraged to review the two products and provide feedback. If interested in participating in the evaluation, contact the OWL Flight Plan project team at owlflightplan@uwo.ca. The evaluation phase runs until Friday, May 27.
