Ten Western alumnae have been named to Canada’s Most Powerful Women Top 100 list, presented by the National Post and the Women’s Executive Network (WXN). The theme for this year’s Top 100 Awards was What Glass Ceiling? The newspaper wrote of the honoured Western community members, in part:
McKay, MBA’92, named RBC president, CEO
Western alumnus Dave McKay, MBA’92, will assume the role of president and chief executive officer of Royal Bank following the retirement of current president and CEO Gord Nixon on Aug. 1, 2014, the bank announced today. Nixon served in the position for 13 years.
Three awarded Governor General’s Academic Medals
For more than 125 years, the Governor General’s Academic Medals have recognized the outstanding scholastic achievements of students in Canada. Based solely on academic criteria, there is no monetary award associated with the medal. The Gold Medals were presented at Western’s Autumn Convocation ceremony for graduates of the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies on Friday, Nov. 1.
