Western Mustangs football head coach Greg Marshall has been named the “campaign coach” of Ronald McDonald House Southwestern Ontario.
Marshall and members of the Mustangs football team, “the campaign all-stars,” will be involved in helping to raise funds and awareness for the Ronald McDonald House.
The charity hopes to raise $8.5 million dollars in this campaign, and needs $1.3 million to reach that goal.
Funds raised will go toward adding 17 new bedrooms to assist additional families at the House located at 741 Base Line Road East in London, adjacent to the Children’s Hospital and a short distance from St. Joseph’s neonatal intensive care unit.
Construction is expected to be complete by March 31, 2011, and will support families from all over Southwestern Ontario with children who are critically ill or seriously injured.
As part of Marshall’s work as campaign coach in raising funds, awareness and support for the charity, he has organized a “Lift-Off” with members of the Western football team on Saturday, April 10 at TD Waterhouse Stadium in the Michael Kirkley Training Centre.
The “campaign all-stars”, Mustangs football players will participate in this year-end “Lift-Off,” featuring skill-testing drills, similar to those seen in a football combine.
Fans and community members are encouraged to attend, and admission is by donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Mustangs players are currently collecting pledges for the “Lift-Off” event, with all proceeds going to the House. These Western student-athletes will also be involved in McHappy Day on Wednesday, May 5 in the London-area McDonalds restaurants.
More details will be posted at www.westernmustangs.ca. If you cannot attend but wish to make a pledge, visit https://www.rmhsouthwesternontario.ca/. Donations can be made by clicking on the DONATE NOW button which will be active later this week.
