Forty years after the first Earth Day celebration, environmental degradation remains a serious international challenge.
The McIntosh Gallery’s current exhibition Natural. /Disaster./, curated by Jessica Wyman, looks at various aspects of this complex issue through works of art created during the past 40 years by 12 contemporary artists.
On Wednesday, April 21, on the eve of Earth Day, the McIntosh Gallery presents a panel discussion featuring Wyman and a number of the exhibiting artists, including Ron Benner, Susan Dobson, Elle Flanders, Wyn Geleynse, Frances Leeming and Gwen MacGregor. They will reflect upon their art practices in relation to broader environmental issues and examine the role artists have played in the environmental movement since the 1960s.
The artists’ panel discussion begins at 7 p.m. Earth-friendly refreshments will be provided and admission is free.
