The University of Western Ontario has appointed Dave Edwards as the head coach of the Western Mustangs women’s volleyball team.
Edwards stepped into the head coaching role for the 2010-2011 season, taking over for Dean Lowrie, who took a year leave of absence but will not be returning next season.
“It is an honour to be named to this position and to continue my association with such an outstanding university,” says Edwards, who led the women’s team to a 15-4 record and an OUA championship. “I am committed to building on the success we achieved as a team last year. I am excited about the prospects for next year and the future of Western volleyball.”
Previously, Edwards served as the associate and assistant coach of both the men’s and women’s volleyball teams at Western, and has been on the Mustangs women’s coaching staff since 2002.
“Dave is an outstanding leader, coach and mentor,” says Therese Quigley, Western Director of Sports and Recreation Services. “His contribution to Mustang volleyball has been significant. I am both pleased and proud to have him continue in the role of head coach of our Mustangs Women’s Volleyball program.”
