Western’s participation in the annual RONA MS Bike Tour has grown with the merging of two teams.
MS Road Warriors have merged with Team Western for the Grand Bend to London biking fundraiser – scheduled for July 23-24 – to push scientists a step closer to a cure for Multiple Sclerosis. Most often diagnosed in young adults (aged 15 to 40), multiple sclerosis can be unpredictable, affecting vision, hearing, memory, balance and mobility.
Team Western was formed in 2004 by Campus Community Police Service Staff Sergeant Michael Mics, with the MS Road Warriors formed in 2009 by Gord Robinson of Western’s Hospitality Services. Mics and Robinson met during last year’s ride and decided to merge both teams together under the Team Western banner.
The event is not a race, but rather an enjoyable way to raise funds for a great cause. The trek begins in Grand Bend on the Saturday and ends at Western. The next morning, riders return to Grand Bend, riding a total of 160 kilometres.
