Academic integrity will be a keynote theme at the Western’s 2012 Fall Perspectives on Teaching conference, scheduled for Friday, Aug. 24.
Professor Julia Christensen Hughes, dean of the College of Management and Economics at the University of Guelph will discuss the imperatives, incentives and innovations in academic integrity that followed a 2002/2003 study of the subject at more than a dozen Canadian post-secondary institutions, finding questionable behaviours reported by undergraduate and graduate students. This keynote session is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. in the Social Science Centre, Room 2050.
Plenary and concurrent sessions will address academic integrity at Western, issues relating to collaborative projects, supporting graduate and first-year students as well as best practices for large class teaching.
Associate Vice-Provost (Academic Programs & Students) Angie Mandich, along with Debra Dawson, Teaching Support Centre director, will deliver conference opening remarks at 9 a.m.
