Sanchi Parulkar, a first-year Foods & Nutrition student, organizes shirts at Western’s first clothing swap, which took place on the second floor of the University Community Centre last weekend. Organized by fourth-year student Jeremy De Mello and Jennifer Hao, his business partner in the company Swapculture, the clothing swap was open to all members of the London community, asking participants to donate 10 items of clothing alongside $10. Those who donated could then go home with 10 or more items – all new to them. Swapculture’s mission is to make an environmental impact by saving emissions from textile production. A portion of the proceeds of the clothing swap will go to EnviroWestern and another portion will go to the Beyond Zero Foundation, an organization that funds HIV, maternal and newborn health clinics in Kenya.
