The Centre for Environment and Sustainability (CES) recently appointed Earth Sciences professor Patricia Corcoran as its new director, through June 30, 2017.
Corcoran’s research focuses on natural and anthropogenic sedimentary deposits in order to gain an understanding of Earth’s changing surface and atmospheric processes through time. One significant element of her research concerns the distribution, accumulation and degradation of plastic debris in shoreline and lake bottom sediments of the Great Lakes.
As Director of CES over the next two years, Corcoran will lead the centre through a review process, which will help define its future direction.
