Western Mustangs football was well represented in the 2025 CFL Draft, with six players selected by the BC Lions, Calgary Stampeders, Montreal Alouettes and Saskatchewan Roughriders on April 29.
Offensive lineman Erik Andersen was drafted by the Saskatchewan Roughriders, 13th overall. He’s also been invited to the NFL’s NY Giants mini camp later in May. Andersen has been a steady force on the Mustangs offence since joining the program in 2021. The London, Ont. native came to Western from Lucas Secondary School.

“Getting drafted to the BC Lions is a childhood dream come true,” said Findlay, whose uncle and grandfather also played for the Lions. “To play in front of my family and friends is the best situation I could have wished for. I am super excited to put on the pads and compete for BC.”
Keanu Yazbeck, Alex Berwick, Max von Muehldorfer and Riley Macleod were also drafted. All of the Mustangs picked in the draft will now prepare for their respective teams’ rookie camps and main training camps in early May. Last year, two Western student-athletes were chosen in the 2024 CFL Draft.
